Halifax BID’s town-centre information point will serve as a special Christmas headquarters, providing the public with details of the many different events and activities taking place in Halifax over the festive season.  Opened earlier this year, the so-called Hub is located in the Woolshops area and will be decorated in the style of a Christmas grotto for the weeks leading up to Christmas.  Visitors will be encouraged to call in for information about the wide variety of seasonal events happening across town.

Financed, managed and staffed by Halifax BID – also known as Discover Halifax – the information point will be open to everyone and is expected to attract thousands of visits over the next few weeks.  From here, people will have their questions answered as well as being directed to a huge range of events, activities and seasonal sights planned for the coming weeks.  These will range from the town’s Painted Window Trail and all-new Christmas lights through to brass bands and sing-alongs in the street, charity gifting trees and even the annual Christmas Pantomime – showing at Victoria Theatre after it was cancelled last year. There will be information about shopping, eating and drinking too, and BID staff will be promoting a ‘Shop Local’ message to help the many Halifax businesses badly affected by the impact of COVID restrictions.

Halifax BID is a non-profit-making initiative, which, for the last five years, has been boosting the local economy by supporting businesses and making the town more attractive and vibrant.  Its Project Manager, Chloe McNeill, explained, “With so much going on this Christmas – much of it organised by BID – it made perfect sense to use our Hub as a festive information centre.  We’ll have printed information as well as online resources, and our Ambassadors themselves will be on hand and are extremely knowledgeable and friendly.  As for transforming the Hub into a Christmas grotto, it had to be done!  Even if people don’t need information, they should call in to see our magical Elves Workshop here, or to grab a free chocolate.  Anyone who can’t make it to the Hub needn’t worry – they can always find information at discoverhalifax.co.uk, and we’ll share news, photos and updates on social media too. Ultimately, the many different festivities are happening all over town, but this is the one place people really need to know about if they’re stuck for ideas, need directions or just want to ask where to get a hot brew.”
