Toulouse Olympique are closing in on their latest signing ahead of their promotion to Super League with the addition of Gadwin Springer.
Rugby League Live understands the France international will return to the country for the 2022 season to link up with Sylvain Houles’ side ahead of their first venture into the top flight.
The 28-year-old has spent the last seven seasons in the UK with Castleford Tigers, Toronto Wolfpack, Halifax Panthers and most recently, Featherstone Rovers.
But Springer, who started his career with Catalans Dragons, will now return to France and also to Super League, having played in the Championship this year.
Elite 1 clubs are understood to have shown interest but Toulouse appears set to be his destination.
He started the season with Fax before leaving for Featherstone midway through the season, though he missed the backend of the campaign through injury.
The 28-year-old is set to become the club’s second signing since their promotion to Super League, joining James Cunningham in making the move ahead of the new season.
A winger is also thought to be an area Toulouse would like to recruit in before the start of the season though nothing has been finalised in that regard.
Toulouse earned promotion to Super League after defeating Featherstone Rovers in the Million Pound Game. They ended the season undefeated.
