A new restaurant has made a dramatic entrance onto Halifax’s culinary scene and this week was crowned one of the best restaurants on review site Tripadvisor.
True North restaurant in Dean Clough mills, which only opened in November 2019, has won a prestigious Traveller’s Choice Award for 2021.
Because of coronavirus, the restaurant has only been open for nine months but has already made a huge impression on Halifax diners.

Sam Holmes, group manager, said: “True North is still one of Halifax’s newest restaurants; being recognised for this sort of thing is a testament to our Team’s continued hard work.”
Mr Holmes also provided a preview of what people can expect at the restaurant.
“True North diners can expect the very best of Northern Hospitality,” he said.
“Friendly, attentive service sits alongside a fresh and evolving menu, made from scratch with the some of the best locally-sourced produce around.

“Our drinks selection features local suppliers including Vocation Brewery and our cocktail offering is certainly one to be reckoned with.”
As expected, the restaurant has a perfect five-star review on Tripadvisor, with diners praising the ‘amazing’ food, friendly service and good prices.
Reviewer emmajh3 said: “Been to True North a few times for lunch, breakfast and Sunday lunch and just love it.
“The quality of food is amazing, the service from the staff is just great, they are so friendly, attentive and just fantastic at what they do it’s one of our favourite places to dine, the Friday social surpassed our expectations, quality food and lovely atmosphere.”
And reviewer Pioneer686124 said: “Lovely setting, atmosphere and very friendly staff. The food is absolutely delicious, very fresh and flavoursome.”
