A Halifax wine bar and cafe described as a ‘hidden gem’ serving ‘fabulous’ food has been named one of the best independent restaurants in the country.
Pride & Provenance in the Piece Mill building in Halifax serves all kinds of food and drink – including toasted sandwiches.
The restaurant has some splendid TripAdvisor reviews which won it a place in the ’15 of the best independent restaurants in the UK You’ve Probably Never Heard Of’.
Reviews by customers refer to it as a ‘hidden gem’ with ‘amazing food and friendly service’.
Customers also raved about the fantastic selection of toasted sandwiches that have exotic names like The Bikini, The Italian Stallion, and The HOT One.
The ingredients might include Lishman’s chorizo (from the Ilkley butcher), air-dried ham, mozzarella, and a variety of cheeses.
They are served on white sourdough bread and are served with Yorkshire natural sea salt crisps and mixed herb olives.
Pride & Provenance was started in 2018 by the Yorkshire-born husband and wife team, James and Melanie Thompson.
Pride & Provenance is a café, wine bar, and restaurant and it is situated in the Piece Mill building in Halifax, just outside the South Gate of The Piece Hall in Halifax.
Melanie said: “We take the utmost pride in everything we do whether that be sourcing the very best producers and suppliers to delivering great service in beautiful surroundings.
“As for provenance, we are passionate about where our produce comes from and we ensure that there is clear traceability from farm to fork. We believe that our trust in these values ensures a great experience for our guests.”
Pride & Provenance recently won the Yorkshire Choice Awards for Customer Service and Trip Advisor Travellers Choice Awards in 2020 and 2021.
