West Yorkshire Police sealed off a main road in the centre of Halifax following reports of a man on a bridge.
Officers were deployed just before 5am today after reports came in about the safety of a person on the bridge over Burdock Way. Several drivers were caught up in tailbacks as officers dealt with the situation.
A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said the male was brought to safety while the road was closed. He said: “At 4.54am today, police received a concern for safety report for a male on the bridge over Burdock Way.

“The road was closed in both directions while the incident was brought to a safe conclusion.”
Several people took to social media to express their concerns about the incident. The road was closed for around an hour, according to people who were at the scene.
