Police explain raid on house in Halifax Old Road, Huddersfield, as CSI spend two days at scene

A police investigation into suspected ‘drugs offending’ in Huddersfield has led to three arrests of two women and a man. West Yorkshire Police has confirmed that officers raided a property in Halifax Old Road, Birkby, on Saturday morning.

Officers found a cannabis farm and carried out a full search, with items of property seized and taken away. Residents said armed officers had been called to the scene but this has not been confirmed by the force. Northern Powergrid staff also attended the scene, with vans from both authorities parked up outside the property for hours.

In a statement today, the force said: “Police attended at a house in Halifax Old Road, Birkby, on Saturday morning as part of an investigation into suspected drugs offending.

“Officers located a cannabis farm inside the property and conducted a full search of the house. A number of items of property were seized.

“Two women and a man were arrested on suspicion of drugs offences and have now been released on police bail pending ongoing enquiries by Kirklees Police.”
