A fundraiser set up in memory of Travis Smith has raised £12,803 so far, exceeding the initial target of £500.
Rachael Banham organised the fundraiser and said: “Travis was a remarkable young man who touched the hearts of many people.
“We have set up this page to help give Trav the send off he deserves.”
When the fundraising target was quickly exceeded, Ms Banham posted on behalf of Travis’ parents and said: “To each and everyone of you that has donated thank you from the bottom of my heart.
“The amount raised has blown the target out of the water. With your donations Trav will certainly get the send off he deserves.”
One of the supporters of the fundraiser, Ross Greenaway, said: “Can’t believe how much has been raised… well actually that’s a lie after seeing how many people Travis touched. Absolute legend. Immortalised.”

Last week, floral tributes were left at the scene of the incident along with a rugby shirt, signed with loving messages from those close to him.
Richard Dibbin, club chairman, said: “Many of you have known Travis for a long time and for those closest to Travis he was not only a team-mate but a great friend.
“As a sign of respect, could I ask all of our teams and spectators to observe a minute’s applause in his memory, prior to playing this weekend.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this sad time.”
