Millions of people have ordered flowers from Bunches over the past three decades, but many may not realise the online florist is still run by the same family who started selling blooms beneath an umbrella in Mansfield. Now the business has been voted the UK’s favourite family business.
One of the UK’s best-known online florists has been crowned Britain’s favourite family business, but many customers may not realise the company behind millions of flower deliveries is still family-owned.
Bunches, which has delivered more than 13 million bouquets since launching its postal flower service, has won the National People’s Choice Family Business of the Year Award 2026 after customers voted for the company.
The online florist also picked up the Midlands & Central People’s Choice Family Business of the Year title at the ceremony, organised by Family Business United.
Back in 1989, founders Erik and Sandra Hoving started selling flowers beneath an umbrella at a market stall in Mansfield. After speaking to customers about what they wanted, they spotted an opportunity to send fresh flowers through the post.
Just a year later they were working with the Post Office, dispatching their first five bouquets. The concept proved popular, and by the early 2000s the business had successfully moved online, growing into one of Britain’s longest-established online flower delivery companies.
Today, Bunches is run by the founders’ daughter Dani and her husband Dan, but the company says its family values remain unchanged.
Collecting the awards, the pair said: “For 37 years, our family business has helped your families celebrate what matters. That’s not a coincidence – the generosity, trust and emotional connection that keep families strong are exactly what we help people express through flowers.”
They added: “These awards belong to every single person at Bunches, whether they pack an order with care, answer a customer query with kindness, or look after our website and products with diligence.
“We are so very grateful for everyone who voted for us. We really can’t express how much it means.”
Unlike many business awards, the People’s Choice categories are decided entirely by public vote rather than a judging panel, meaning customers themselves selected Bunches as the national winner.
The company says its customer support team is rated 4.9 out of five, while it holds an overall 4.7-star rating based on more than 200,000 customer reviews.
Alongside traditional hand-tied bouquets, Bunches offers letterbox flowers, plants, hampers and seasonal gift collections, with prices currently starting from under £20.
