In Conversation with Michael Stewart at Bookcorner

The Book Corner, tucked away in a corner of The Piece Hall, in Halifax, is a treat for all book lovers, with a welcoming children’s section and great selection of books ranging from special editions and signed copies to a wide range of local authors. It certainly is a treat for any booklover.

My trip, on this occasion, was to listen to a talk from Michael Stewart, author of several Brontë focused books. His latest book, Walking the Invisible, provided the base for an incredibly interesting talk, and made it near impossible to resist buying the book to read about the entire walk – as if I needed an excuse!

The room at The Book Corner was clearly full of Brontë enthusiasts, who asked insightful questions and, I’m sure given the chance, could’ve carried on the discussion all evening.

Although the space in The Book Corner is limited, and it wasn’t the easiest layout for a talk like this, it was clear from the attendance that such events are popular.

We rounded off the evening with a delicious ‘boozy hot chocolate’ from another Piece Hall spot, The Wine Barrel, sitting outside in the beautiful Piece Hall courtyard, which made for a superb end to a great evening.

I will be looking out for more opportunities to meet and listen to authors in this space, a great way to spend an evening in Halifax.
