Halifax teenager missing for six days found and arrested man released

A Halifax woman who went missing from home for six days has been found safe and well.

Tara Whelan, 18, went missing last Tuesday, prompting an urgent appeal from West Yorkshire Police and her family.

The Calderdale College student was last seen in Halifax town centre last Tuesday morning.

West Yorkshire Police had issued several appeals and her sister, Chantelle, appealed to her to come home.

The Force has thanked people who shared their missing person appeal.

A police spokesman said Tara had been found safe and well.

“Police would like to thank everyone who shared the appeal across social media.

“A 39-year-old man who was arrested in connection with her disappearance has been released from custody.”
