A teenager who died during a horrifying head-on crash near Halifax over the weekend has been named locally as former Ryburn Valley High School student Felix Jackson.
West Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses after the tragedy on Burnley Road in Luddenden Foot. Officers were called to the scene at 5.40pm on Sunday (May 7) after reports three vehicles had been involved in a collision.
Mr Jackson was driving a blue Seat Ibiza along the A646 in the direction of Halifax and attempted to overtake a red Volkswagen Take Up causing damage to its wing mirror. The Seat continued along the road before hitting a black BMW 320D head-on.

Sadly, Mr Jackson was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Officers investigating the incident have asked any witnesses to call 101. Ryburn Valley High School has been contacted for comment.
When we reported this story yesterday readers were quick to offer sympathy to the family of the deceased. George Grant wrote: “So sad to hear about it, deepest sympathy to his family R.I.P. Young man.” And Sue King added: “I’ve just passed where it happened, people have been putting flowers there and RIP.”
Linda Keogh said: “To a young, inexperienced driver, what a tragic loss. You see this all too often. When you’re young and filled with bravado. Thoughts are with the family and many friends.”
Yesterday (Tues) A spokeswoman for West Yorkshire Police said: “Police are appealing for witnesses after a fatal road traffic collision in Calderdale in which a teenager was killed at the weekend. The collision happened shortly before 5:40pm on Sunday (7/5) on Burnley Road in Luddenden Foot and involved three vehicles, a blue Seat Ibiza, a red Volkswagen Take Up and a black BMW 320D.
Police have passed the file to the coroner’s office and an inquest will be opened and adjourned at Bradford Coroner’s Court in due course.
