http://The West Riding Stonecarving Association will be hosting The European Stone Carving Festival at Halifax Minster on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th May 2025. This is only the 3rd time the UK will have hosted the event. It was last held 10 years ago at Lincoln Cathedral and before that in Canterbury Cathedral. The festival attracts hundreds of visitors. We are expecting 120 talented stone carvers from across Europe to take part. They will be hand carving stone that has been donated from Johnston’s quarry group. There will be food, drink, live music and entertainment. On the 2nd day there will be a prize giving by the Mayor of Calderdale and afterwards all the carved pieces will be auctioned. The public are welcome to come along free of charge.
