Dramatic images have emerged after a roof of a shop collapsed in Halifax town centre.
Emergency services were called just after 3pm today, September 3, after reports of a collapsed roof at a commercial building.
The street was cordoned off by police and locals asked to avoid the area.
Images shared with Yorkshire Live show the dramatic aftermath of the collapse with large sections of the roof seen to be caved in.
Large sections of the roof can seen to be damaged as well of some parts of the actual building structure.
West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said that no one was injured.
A spokeswoman for the service earlier today said: “We’re currently responding to reports of a partially collapsed roof in a commercial premises on Southgate in Halifax.
“We were called at 15.07 hours today, Thursday 3 September.
“Two fire engines have attended the incident and are still on the scene – one from Illingworth Fire Station and one from Halifax Fire Station.
“The occupants of the premises had already moved to safety by the time we got there and no one has been injured.
“The police and the Council are also in attendance.”
Workers in the area reported seeing smoke and a large emergency services presence.
The affected building is said to be behind a pet shop on Southgate.
