Calderdale Industrial Museum
One of Halifax’s most important heritage attractions, dedicated to showcasing the town’s powerful industrial past and the wider history of the Calder Valley.
Housed in a historic mill building near the Piece Hall, the museum brings the story of the Industrial Revolution to life through working machines, immersive displays, and authentic industrial artefacts.
The museum is especially known for its hands-on and working exhibits, many of which are still demonstrated by volunteers. These machines date from the 19th and early 20th centuries and show how industry in Halifax developed through textiles, engineering, mining, and manufacturing.
One of the highlights is seeing historic machines in action, giving visitors a real sense of how factories and mills once operated in Halifax during its industrial peak.
